What If Every Day Held the Magic of Christmas Eve?

Do you ever notice how your Christmas tree looks a little different after Christmas Day?

Do you ever notice how the Christmas lights look a little dimmer once the holidays have passed?

Almost like they’ve lost their magic now that all the excitement is over.

Do you ever notice how the new calendar year never quite lives up to the hype of New Year’s Eve?

Do you ever notice how life never looks all that different come New Year’s Day?

Almost like we’ve lost all hope for a new beginning now that all the anticipation is gone.

But the tree hasn’t changed and the lights haven’t either and New Year’s Day is really just another day of the week.

Maybe it’s just the way we look at it all.

What if every night held the magic of Christmas Eve?

What if every day held the promise of New Year’s Day?

What if we showed our love for our sweethearts every day the way we do on Valentine’s Day?

What if we showed our appreciation for our moms and dads every day the way we do on Mother’s Day and Father’s Day?

What if we gave thanks every day like we do on Thanksgiving?

And what if we celebrated our lives every day like we do on our birthdays?

We probably wouldn’t look forward to the holidays nearly as much, but the rest of our year would be a whole lot better.

I don’t know if this way of living is even remotely possible, but there is one thing I know for sure.

Perspective changes everything.

We should all at least try to change ours.

Acknowledge your pain and honor your grief, but do better, try harder — not in spite of it, but because of it.

This is your one life.

You are meant to live it.

Why not at least try to live every day like we are all just so damn lucky to be alive?

It can’t hurt.
