Episode 5: Grieving Someone Who Is Still Alive

Welcome to Episode 5 of The Life, Love, and Alzheimer’s Podcast! If your loved one has Alzheimer’s or dementia, then you know what it’s like to grieve the loss of someone who is still living. It is not an actual, physical death, but it is still a death. Here are my real, raw, and deeply honest thoughts on what it’s like to grieve someone who is still alive.

  1. My mom has Alzheimer’s and now she’s in a nursing home. I was just recently told that my family have to think about hospice because my mom is not gaining weight at all. She’s lost 10 pounds and continues to loss more little by little. They changed her diet to more protein but it’s not helping her. It’s hard for me because everything is happening so fast. I feel like running away and being by myself ever since I got the news about her weight and hospice. I’m listening to your podcast and it’s helping me a lot. I will be subscribing to it and I’m also buying your books. Thanks for all that you do.

    1. I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I felt the exact same way when my mom was approved for hospice. As much as we know it’s coming, we are never prepared. You can follow me on Facebook and Instagram (both are Life love and Alzheimer’s) and I also offer online mentoring services for Alzheimer’s daughters. All the info is on the mentoring page on my website.
